Stepping/hobbling in the right direction…

By on 1-10-2017 in Personal

As we talked last time. I had two surgeries on my foot and I now have a metal plate in my foot. I know you all are extremely jealous. I had a really hard time talking about the surgery and admitting when I need assistance. I couldn’t walk, I couldn’t even pour myself a cup of coffee. This experience has been so humbling and taught me a lot about myself and taking care of not only me but others.

I hate taking time off work and I had to take a med leave as I was barely able to get into the office on my own let alone able to sit and focus on work without being in extreme pain. During the time off I realized how important it was that I took care of myself. Resting, elevating my foot, following orders and completing stretches. I pushed myself too hard at the beginning and ended up causing my foot to take longer to heal and get rid of the swelling.

I’ve always been that person that doesn’t go to the dentist or Dr. until there is a problem. I have to admit I have a lot of health issues and I need to find a way to manage and hopefully get rid of some.

This is probably the most boring post I’ve ever written. I just want to encourage you all to take a step in the right direction and take of yourself. And ask for your help to keep me accountable. If you have a FitBit you should add me and we can work with one another. I am pretty active on Pinterest and would love to send each other helpful posts and learn new things.

till next time…

  1. It’s never easy to ask for help, especially when you’re helpless. Definitely better to have a longer recovery than a short one. Thoughts and prayers are with you!
